Organisation

Tanyard Youth Project (TYP) run free practical and recreational activities for over 250 children and young people aged between 10 - 18 years, in a safe environment in an area high on the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation. TYP work with children to avoid anti-social behaviour and crime, through arts and crafts, sports and games, healthy cooking, drama and film making as well as advice on IT skills and job applications. In addition to this, TYP support volunteers and provide work experiences for 16 years+.

Boatyard Music Studio Capital Project

TYP provides an opportunity for young people to develop their studio-based music skills by creating music, sing, record music, and learn DJ skills at Boatyard Music Studio. As a result, more than 40 service users have made new friends, develop a new skill, gain confidence and self-belief. A grant of £8,800 was awarded.

"I love the studio, it’s the best place. I wish it was open every day. I have recently learnt the ukulele and guitar. I have done things I thought I could never do before. I now feel like I can do almost anything!"
