Open Funding: Capital Grants Now Cover Support for Digital Infrastructure

We were delighted, but slightly amazed, to have more than 200 organisations attend! This validated our decision to fund in this area: digital infrastructure is a core need for charities today, but it’s hard for most to find funding to cover these projects.

As a capital funder, we see the start-up costs of new websites, CRM systems, and apps as analogous to the buildings, vehicles and physical equipment we also fund. They help organisations reach more people, serve them more effectively, and help boost efficiency and sustainability. We’ve only made a small number of grants in this area so far, but we’re excited about what we’re helping charities and social businesses to do.

Want to learn more about our funding in this area? Watch the webinar recording below.

We don’t want people to waste their time applying to us if their organisations or projects aren't eligible, so please do review our core guidance on eligibility before submitting an application. Most importantly, we want other funders to join us in supporting the costs of essential digital infrastructure – whether through more core funding or specific funds. There is more need that we can meet. It can feel an intimidating area to move into if you’re not a digital expert (and here we'd like to thank the actual experts who have helped us get to this point!), but it doesn’t need to be. Please drop us a line if you’re considering offering digital funding and would like to hear about our experiences so far (you can contact Jenny North and Jack Abbotts on LinkedIn to start a conversation).
