Responding to Demand III: Upcoming Changes to Our Open Grants Programme

In our last post, we laid out the changes to our Open Grants Programme that we need to design and implement in the first half of the year.

This is taking up a lot of our small team’s time and will continue to do so. To help us continue grantmaking uninterrupted during this period, we’ve boosted our capacity by delegating some of our decision-making and grant management during 2025 to partner organisations.

Rocket Science UK Ltd are providing support on applications under the Small Grants strand of our Open Grants Programme. Rocket Science are experienced in working with grantmakers to assess applications and manage awards, including to small organisations.

CAST Centre for the Acceleration of Social Technology are providing support on all applications for digital infrastructure grants, both Large and Small, under the Open Grants Programme. CAST are well-known for helping social organisations make full use of digital technology to boost their impact and sustainability.

These partnerships are essential in our being able to keep the Open Grants Programme open during the redesign. As experienced grantmakers in their own right, they are also bringing additional expertise and fresh eyes to our processes and decision-making. This is another valuable input as we make changes for the future.

Rocket Science and CAST are working to our existing eligibility guidance, assessment processes and criteria, and data protection policies. Applicants and grantees may be contacted by their staff working on our behalf.
