Organisation

The Aldingbourne Trust has been working to unlock potential and enable adults with learning disabilities in West Sussex to lead enriched and fulfilling lives through education, training, and specialist care for the past 40 years. It focuses on building strong partnerships with local businesses and employers, and on finding and providing employment opportunities in the local community. In addition to supported employment, The Aldingbourne Trust provides supported living, a drop-in facility, and a number of social enterprises including wood recycling, furniture restoration, a car wash service, a creative arts studio, and a community café.

Quarry Building project

After a period of significant growth (visitors numbers rising from 10,000 to 60,000 per annum), The Aldingbourne Trust required new premises to deal with rising demand, and to provide more flexible areas and training spaces. After a feasibly study, the organisation decided to proceed with the construction of a major new building, the Quarry Building. At the time of application, the organisation had raised £3.5mil towards a project budget of £4.6mil. A grant of £110,000 was awarded.
